Leukotrienes: Upstream of microglia, astrocytes, and inflammatory markers
Of 1,314 search results, 64 studies were found that addressed associations between leukotrienes, microglia, astrocytes, and neuroinflammation (or neurodegeneration): 23 preclinical studies (cell lines or cadaver), one case series, six retrospective, and 34 prospective studies (all but four of which were comparative). To summarize, the association between leukotrienes and downstream markers of neuroinflammation were coded as ‘positive’, ‘negative’, or ‘neutral’.
