AI-Assisted Gap Analysis of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) for Left Main Coronary Artery Disease (LMDAC)

Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare primary and secondary outcomes of different percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) strategies among patients with left main coronary artery disease (LMDAC).

Background: LMCAD is associated with a high morbidity and mortality rate. While many randomised controlled trials show superiority of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) over PCI among patients with intermediate to high complexity of left main lesions, PCI is still performed in patients with low complex coronary anatomy (SYNTAX-I score) or in whom CABG is contraindicated due to severe comorbidities. The best PCI strategy for those patients remains unclear.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search on Medline, Embase and Cochrane to deduct all the randomised controlled trials that were following LMCAD patients who underwent PCI treatment. Primary and secondary outcomes were discussed and defined pre-screening.

Conclusion: The tables clearly highlight the most frequently studied interventions among patients undergoing PCI for LM. These interventions remain ambiguous in terms of established guidelines. The decision on which interventions to further elaborate on, to address these gaps, can now be informed by the existing data we have gathered.
